About Toolsite

Toolsite is a small collection of online utilities built around one idea: the fastest, safest tool is one that runs on your own device. Every calculator and file tool on this site executes entirely in your browser. There is no sign-up, no upload queue and no “processing…” spinner waiting on some distant server.

What you will find here

  • Calculators — UK VAT (add or reverse), US sales tax by state, AdSense revenue estimates, hourly-to-salary conversion and discount maths. Each one shows its formula and worked examples so you can check the logic, not just the answer.
  • File tools — image compression to a target size, PNG/JPG/WebP conversion, aspect-preserving resizing, image-to-PDF, PDF merging and page-range splitting. Files are processed in your browser and never transmitted anywhere.

How it works under the hood

The site is built as a modern static-first web app and served from a global edge network, so pages load quickly almost anywhere. File processing uses standard browser APIs — canvas for images and client-side PDF libraries for documents — rather than a backend. That architecture is why the privacy story is so simple: there is simply no pipeline through which your data could leak.

Our principles

  1. Privacy by architecture. We do not upload your files because we never built an upload pipeline. Privacy is not a promise here — it is an engineering fact.
  2. Show the maths. Every calculator explains its formula, and every tool documents its limits, so results can be verified rather than trusted blindly.
  3. No dark patterns. One clear cookie choice, no newsletter traps, no fake countdown timers on “free” tools.

Honest limitations

Tax rates change, ad benchmarks vary by niche, and image compression always trades some quality for size. Our calculators are for informational purposes only and are not financial or tax advice — always confirm rates with the relevant authority before filing anything. Where a figure could drift out of date (such as the VAT registration threshold), the tool pages say so explicitly.
