How the PDF splitter works
The file is read locally with pdf-lib, the pages you specify are copied into a brand-new PDF, and the original stays untouched. Nothing is uploaded, which makes it safe for payroll reports, client files or anything else private.
Choosing a page range
- Enter the first page and last page of the section you want — inclusive on both ends.
- A single page works too: set first and last to the same number (for example 4 to 4).
- The tool tells you the page count if you enter an out-of-range value, so you can correct it.
Splitting into several files
Run the tool once per range: extract pages 1–5, then 6–10, and so on. Each run produces a new PDF named after the original plus the range (report-p1-p5.pdf), so results never overwrite each other.
Typical splits
- 40-page report → pages 12–15 extracted as the executive summary to share.
- 120-page scan → chapters split out one range at a time.
- One signed page (page 8 of 8) → 8 to 8 → a single-page PDF for email.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Drop your PDF in, enter the first and last page numbers of the range you want, then click extract. A new PDF containing just those pages is generated in your browser.
Are the original page numbers preserved?
The extracted pages keep their original content and look, but the new PDF numbers its pages from 1. Bookmarks and forms attached to the original file are not carried over.
Can I split a PDF into multiple files at once?
Run the tool once per range — extract pages 1–5, then 6–10, and so on. Each run produces one new PDF and leaves your original untouched.
Does this work with scanned or protected PDFs?
Scanned PDFs work fine — pages are copied as they are. Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed; remove the protection in the app that created the file first.
